The Pakistan cricket team paid a visit to the United States (US) Embassy ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be played in the US and West Indies from June 1.
Pakistan is expected to announce their World Cup squad in coming days and the players who are likely to be part of that squad visited the embassy in order to start their visa process.
The Pakistani players spent time with US Ambassador Donald Blome in the Embassy. The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi along with assistant coach Azhar Mahmood were also present at the occasion.
“Cricket fever is on as hosts its first T20 Cricket World Cup in June. Ambassador Blome hosted the Pakistan cricket team for a pre-World Cup meet-and-greet at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad,” US Embassy Pakistan posted on their social media handles.
“Shaheen Shah and Shadab Khan gave the Ambassador some cricket tips using a special U.S. Embassy cricket ball. The Pakistani team presented the Ambassador with a signed cricket bat and team jersey. Ambassador Blome presented the team with a commemorative embassy cricket ball and an autographed softball bat.”
Remember, Pakistan is in Group A with arch-rivals India and the two sides will take on one another in one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
It is worth mentioning that 20 qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams of every group will make their way to the Super 8 round.
In the next stage, qualifying teams will once again be divided into two groups of four, from which the top two teams will make their way to the semi-final and then the winners will play the final of the T20 World Cup on June 29.
